The online world of poker was abuzz with speculation when a dark horse that went by the name of “Isildur1” won a whopping $345,000 against Haseeb Qureshi in a game of No Limit Hold’em. Nobody knew anything about this Isildur1; nobody knew who he was, what he does, and what he’s like – the only thing they know is that he’s making waves in the poker world, and what big waves they are indeed.
Climbing the Rung
The news was out that someone called “Isildur1” was playing very aggressively in the $100/$200 PLO tables. He was playing against Haseeb Qureshi, 19-year old poker pro who has won his fair share of 7-figure pots, and his style of play had provided him with ample winnings that would allow him to move to the next level. Armed with a smoking $345,000, Isildur1 ventured into the Sky Limits, only to meet with three pros: Ahston “theAshMAN103” Griffin, Brian Hastings, and THENUTHUNTER. It wasn’t a magical meeting whatsoever, as these three were the ones who would proceed to chip off at Isildur1’s winnings quickly and surely in a torrent of raises and bluffs.
The Painful Fall
What hurts about poker is that you can lose much of your winnings in just a matter of minutes if you fail to play the right hand. This is exactly what happened to Isildur1 when he played against Ashton Griffin. It will be a session Isildur1 will never ever forget. After all, how can you forget losing $40,000 in just four hands. Isildur1 tried to recover his losses when he played against Hastings, but did the exact opposite. Hastings found himself $135,000 richer when Isildur1 mucked up his bluff. Then, Isildur1 proceeded to try his luck against THENUTHUNTER. His luck, however, did not want to cooperate, and he ended up losing another $106,000 against the said player. Apparently not one to give up so easily, Isildur1 further ventured into the highest limits and played 500/1000 NLHE heads-up against none other than Patrik Antonius. It wasn’t a complete loss – but it was by no means a big win. Isildur1 could only win $23,000 from Antonius, after which he promptly left the table.
All in all, Isildur1’s losses totaled to $380,000. It was painful, it was agonizing – but then, that’s poker. And you can bet that Isildur1 will be back after this littl
