Dan ‘Dannyohboy’ Grolemund, online poker player from Warren Pennsylvania, managed to get into the Supernova Elite on PokerStars. What’s so special about that? You ask? Well, not only is it incredibly hard to get into this elite group, what with the one million VIP Player Points that you have to earn, but Dan Grolemund had to do it whilst taking care of his newborn son.

Who is Dan Grolemund?

Dan is a 33-year old family man from the state of Pennsylvania. He works at Pennsylvania hospital as the Director of Occupation Therapy. He has been married for a total of five years and has three children, the third one being his newborn son whom he had to take care of while he was vying for the Supernova Elite title. Despite spending countless hours in getting to that fateful one million points, Dan has managed to keep his marriage strong and to take care of his three children as well. And the question among everyone is: how did he do it?

How did Dan Succeed?

How exactly he managed to succeed where everyone failed, and to get out relatively unscathed, is beyond anyone’s guess. When Dan was asked, he simply replied that his wife was supportive throughout the whole thing. They talked about the Supernova Elite before he jumped into his quest and decided that it would be a good move for them. She was even excited about the vacation packages that was offered on Pokerstars. However, they were expecting a newborn baby boy, so they both knew that life would be hectic in the following months. Dan’s wife, being a business owner, couldn’t stay away from her work for too long, so it was Dan who undertook the responsibility of taking care of the baby boy. He took some time off of his work and proceeded to work on his schedule. He scheduled his poker time around the baby’s sleeping schedule and played while his baby boy was dozing off. He also moved the crib and the high chair near the computer so that any baby-related activities would always be close at hand. And all throughout his mission to go Supernova Elite, not an ounce of his personal life was neglected. He managed to play 3 million hands in all of $100-limit buy-in hold’em and be a good father and husband at the same time. That’s some impressive time management skills right there – in fact, maybe we should all start taking lessons from Dan “Dannyohboy” Grolemund. Everyone knows that this guy has it made.
