Isaac Baron’s instantaneous jump from the WSOP to the main event at Caesar’s is almost like the case of ‘from the frying pan and into the fire’. It’s unthinkable – the act of going from one tournament to another and keeping your mental and physical well-being intact. But Isaac Baron apparently has excellent coping skills and even better poker skills. Despite the strain of all the grinding, Baron managed to be crowned as the champion in the Main Event at Caesar’s, earning himself a sizable $246,928 prize and the tournament title.
Online Pro turned Live Pro
One of the trends in poker today is the seemingly seamless transition of online poker pros to live poker. Their skills transcend barriers of 1’s and 0’s and they can comfortably make their way to the actual felt. Many online players have proven their prowess and won tournament after tournament. And now, Isaac “westmenloAA” Baron just joined their ranks. Besting a field of 162 people, Baron went straight to the final ten. The said field was certainly a tough one, so it was no easy win for Baron. Many well known names in tournament circuits joined, and the final ten was certainly a hardy lot. Among the players in the final 10 was Chris Bjorin who, like Baron, came straight from the WSOP. The only difference was that Bjorin actually made it to the WSOPE Main Event Final Table. This time, however, though he made it into the top 10, he was first to go when he busted out. Mark Ketteringham followed Bjorin quickly, finishing at ninth place. Kathy Liebert, one of the most popular and most successful female poker players, had to make her exit at 8th place.
Baron Takes Control
Up until then, Baron was lying low. But when Liebert was eliminated, and only seven players were left, Baron took the reins and bumped Theo Tran off, making the guy finish at 7th. Then at the same time, he quickly succeeded in subduing and crippling Glen Chorny, the champion of the 2008 PokerStars EPT. It was one of the most epic three-way clashes in poker. But it was not yet Chorny’s time to go. Erik Nomberg finished before him in 6th, closely followed by Jimmy Tran, who finished 5th. Working his magic once again, Baron eliminated Alex Keating at 4th. Baron was at a massive chip-lead after that, amassing about 80% of the chips in the game. Finally, Chorny was eliminated in 3rd and it was only Michael Benvenuti and Isaac Baron left. Benvenuti put up a good fight, but was no match for Baron’s chip count. He had to exit at 2nd place with a win of $129,562, leaving Baron is the tournament champion, as well as winner of the $246,928 grand prize.
