High Stakes Poker, one of the most successful and popular poker TV shows ever created, is coming back for its sixth season. This time, however, a female co-host for Gabe Kaplan will be welcomed into the show. Kara Scott, former EPT presenter, will be adding her two-cents to the commentary from time to time and interview the players in the field.
Big Games and Big Names
Kara Scott did a wonderful job in the EPT and it’s great that she’s now in High Stakes Poker. Her insights and her interview skills will certainly come in handy in this season, especially since so many of the biggest and greatest stars in the poker industry are coming back. David Benyamine, Eli Elezra, Antonio Esfandiari, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth, Patrik Antonius, Mike Matusow, Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey, and Doyle Brunson are all going to be playing against each other in fully-televised poker high-stakes poker sessions. There will be some new faces joining the poker tables as well namely Dennis Phillips, who finished third in the 2008 WOSP Main Event, Lex Veldhuis of Team PokerStars, Andreas Hoivold, winner of EPT Dortmund 2007, and Sammy “Any Two” George from England.
Such a collection of stars in one place will make the show a goldmine for vital information on poker and it will be up to Kara Scott to interview them on topics like poker strategy, table dynamics, hands, and much more. And you can be sure that Scott will do a wonderful job, as she had already proven herself not just as the presenter of the EPT but also as the host for Poker Night Live. She’ll be a great addition to the show and her insights will no doubt be useful as she herself is a wonderful poker player, having gone deep in the 2008 and 2009 WSOP main events. She was also the second-place winner in the 2009 Irish Open.
About the Show
This line-up of pros and stars, however, is still subject to possible change so some new names might still be added. One thing’s for sure, though, this season is bound to get exciting. The buy-in for the show is a whopping minimum of $200,000. This means that the pots will be as epic as last year’s, maybe even more. If you can remember, Tom Dwan won a historic pot of $919,600 from Barry Greenstein last year. This certainly is the stuff of great television and people will be glued to their screens waiting to see if this record can be broken.
