With some of the biggest names in poker up in its roster of players, the PKR Heads-Up Grand Slam is bound to get extremely interesting. Thirty Two of the best poker players will be competing for the grand prize of $100,000. Okay, so that’s not so big compared to the millions at stake in the other tournaments, but still, this is a Heads-Up Tournament, one on one, mano-a-mano – it’s a perfect set up for settling rivalries, and already some names have gotten people talking.

The First Level

The PKR Heads-Up Grand Slam will be held in London from October 8 to October 10. There’s a $10,000 buy-in, and included in the line-up of players are the biggest stars in the poker world, including Tom “Durrrr” Dwan, Annette Obrestad, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, JC Tran, and much more. The games will be taped and televised in a series of eight shows that will run for two full hours each. It’s sure to be pretty exciting to watch these poker titans clash.

Some of the first-round match-ups are the Tom Dwan vs. John Duthie battle, the Jennifer Tilly vs. Tony G. battle, and the Luke Schwartz vs. Yevgeniy Timoshenko. Already the tables are set up for some big heads-up action. But the most exciting is yet to come, as it is in the Semifinals and the quarterfinals that some of the most controversial match-ups have the possibility of occurring.

A Score to Settle

Ever since the roster of players for the PKR Heads-Up Grand Slam was announced, people were already speculating about the possibilities for the match-ups. But there were two names in the list that stood out most of all: that of Tom “Durrrr” Dwan and Luke “Full Flush” Schwartz. Just having these two in the same building is already a set up for controversy. But the possibility of these two battling it up in the quarterfinals – well, that’s just priceless.

For the sake of anybody who is still in the dark about the animosity between these two, let me clear it up. Of course, you probably already know who Tom “Durrrr” Dwan is. Anybody in the poker world who still doesn’t know him must be living under a rock. Schwartz, on the other hand, is a relative nobody in the world of poker whose name skyrocketed to the headlines through a shameful trail of trash talking (most of it directed at Dwan) and through an extremely odd incident involving an unpaid-for sandwich that got the name “Schwartz” banned from the EPT London. He was always quite open about his “hatred” for Dwan, calling the player an “arrogant social retard” (among other things), but he has yet to back all his words up with any real action. And indeed, if they both manage to win their ways up to the quarterfinals, it will be the perfect opportunity to “settle the score”.
