Tiffany Michelle and Maria Ho saw their stacks of hope dwindling as they ran through the seventh leg of the CBS reality show, The Amazing Race. Granted, their hopes of winning the race have never been all that impressive at any point and, really, it was a wonder they managed to survive this far. People were practically rooting for them to fold since day 1. But Tiffany and Maria proved to be hardier than that, managing to survive for six legs of the race. Alas, it was not meant to be for the poker duo, and they had to say their goodbyes in the show’s most recent episode.
Hopeful Beginnings
The seventh leg actually started out well for the poker duo. They were on stable ground, having secured the second place in the race. Michelle warned, in seemingly prophetic words, that they should not get too complacent. “We’ve learned from poker that it’s really, really easy to get comfortable and get involved in pots that you shouldn’t, but we’re not going to get too comfortable because we know that the higher up there’s a longer way to fall.” And indeed, from second place, they found themselves falling to the last place and, eventually, out of the race itself.
They were doing quite fine at the beginning. They started out with good spirits and seemingly enough energy to get them through. However, when faced with a sporty challenge, things started getting awry for the poker duo.
A Challenge they couldn’t Overcome
It was right before they had to leave Dubai and travel to Amsterdam that it happened. They started out on 2nd place, but this edge proved to be useless as the six teams managed to get on the same flight to the Netherlands. Once there, they had a choice between two challenges, one that involved golf and another which involved a carnival game wherein they had to hit a high striker that would ring the bell at the very top. Choosing the seemingly easier route, the two chose the latter. However, it proved to be beyond their capacities, as they simply could not hit the target hard enough to ring the bell. They were at a handicap in terms of strength because they were the only all-female duo left in the race. Tiffany came close, but even her hardest effort fell short. The duo then decided to try the golf challenge, but it too proved to be too difficult. They went to the carnival game again, failed, and then they tried their hands at the golf challenge once more. However, the strong winds were against them, and they knew they couldn’t complete the challenge. They had to give up the race, knowing that they faced certain elimination with all the time they lost.
There is absolutely no doubt at all that these two females put up a good fight, but they simply do not have as much talent for the Amazing Race as they do for the good old game of Poker.
