Deepstacks University, headed by Mike Matusow, has just opened its virtual doors to a herd of new students today. It’s still in its beta stage, but it’s more than ready to serve its purpose, which is to help players develop all the skills necessary to own the felt.
What’s in the Curriculum?
Algebra, Philosophy, and Physics? Not quite. DeepStacks University is all about poker – and let’s face it, just this fact would make it infinitely more interesting than those uptight institutions that people so revere. And what’s more, when it comes to career opportunities after graduation, DeepStacks by far has the best package. Learn what DeepStacks has to teach you and you could possibly be earning more money by playing than you could have made in ten years of work. Really, what offer could be better?
But in truth, the concept of a training site for poker is nothing new. Poker schools have come and gone, and few have really survived. So what would make DeepStacks different from all those sunken ships? Time will probably tell. But as of now, this university certainly seems to have what it takes to be a success. For one thing, instead of the usual read-and-learn modules, DeepStacks actually has interactive lessons. It uses Reactive Training Technology wherein the student can interact with the training video. Also, the university would release specialized training modules wherein the students can focus on what they need to practice. Furthermore, DeepStacks would offer students the chance of truly knowing what it feels like to be “in the field”, so to speak. You get to experience what it’s like to play with the pros in those high-stakes games – something which would students prepare for what’s to come.
Lessons from Dean Matusow
But perhaps the biggest lure of DeepStacks University is that it has an all-star roster of teachers. After all, who else can teach you to be a winner but the winners themselves? Mike Matusow himself, winner of three bracelets and also the 2005 WSOP Championships, will be the Dean of DeepStacks. Careful though, because Matusow has the reputation of being “The Mouth” and he might just rant the ears off of his students. The other instructors include TJ Cloutier, Adam “Roothlus” Levy, and Michael Binger. The site is now open and is now accepting “enrollees”, so to speak. But it’s still in its Beta Stage so the administrators might be working out kinks from time to time. Expectations are certainly high, though, and it looks like this “university” will succeed where others haven’t.
